Dear Prospective Students, Parents and Teachers,
Thank you for your interest in the Academy. Over the past six years, the program has quickly established itself as one of this country’s top centers for highly gifted pre-college musicians. Under the leadership of President Dr. Mark George, the Academy has rededicated itself to being an elite training ground for students with extraordinary talent and career aspirations. The Academy is for students only in the top few percentiles of young musicians, and is primarily for students who will pursue conservatory training.
The Academy is a wonderful way to introduce students to a broad music community of teaching styles, peer musicians who share the same passion, conservatory faculty, and renown artists, musicians and pedagogues in the country.
While Academy auditions occur annually in April and August, some auditions may be scheduled at different times of year because of extenuating circumstances. If a student is declined after an April audition, it is appropriate for the student to wait one year for a new audition-- unless the audition committee specifically recommended that the student re-audition sooner.
Students and parents are encouraged to contact me to schedule an audition, or learn more about the philosophy, expectations or program curriculum. I am always happy to answer questions about the audition process, scholarships and financial aid, relocation, and area high schools. In addition, if you would like to arrange a visit to the Academy, I will schedule a time for you to meet our faculty and staff, and observe orchestra, chamber music, and a variety of other classes.
